For immediate release July 13, 2020 JCSD CALLED BOARD MEETING LIVE-STREAMING The Jasper County School District Board of Trustees will hold a called board meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. The board meeting will be virtually conducted via Live-link. review our plan of action talk about the wheatlands elementary secondary schedules technology distribution ZTE update student services and wanted to share with you a few important updates in back to school again as we move into this presentation we talked about our data reviewed it is important for you to understand and the recent disease activity by County for the South Carolina DHEC Department and the interesting matter here is that when we brought our initial plan and I said to the public at time that our plan was tentative and it was very fluid and it was such a change I'm weaker by and a virtual option he provided a plan that featured those two options and that time that's around 62016 21 hour rate of incidence with medium that's where we were and I indicated at that time that if there was some type of change that we can back and we would have the same conversation and share with you as a board at a public where we starting our he will look at the data you will know that 7:25 not changed it is still the same but AC and Jasper is Terre mine and we will always come first each of you and I want to say to our teachers you are students or staff and to our ministry leaders you matter to us and we will not compromise your life the life of your loved one or the life of any other human being is District I have a greater responsibility to make sure that safety of all is at the Smith Shelton we looked at our plan we indicated and we thought about what would be best and we consider it again ensuring I don't know but I can move the screen we considered ensuring that we consider making sure that the basic needs for our staff as well as our students were met we look at me Rocky of knees in the CDC guidelines are you must meet the basic needs and here for us the basic needs include security and safety and some dirty and safety we want to make sure that the decision that we made we so they're comfortable and I'm right that we begin to ensure that we can provide security and we can provide that is needed and that we do meet those basic needs in order to continue to provide other parts that we need you to build and grow our children and in what we're doing in all that we do you will continue on you can continue we looked at the CDC guiding principles is there a clear and in order for us to operate at a low red the CDC has said that students and teachers engage in Virtual only classes and activities and events indicated the lowest risk medium rest was indeed where we were in line initially when we posed hybrid model and that was the small in person classes so we're no longer in the medium rest highest rest you'll see there was full size in-person classes and at this point because of our outside community before as what's happening in our community we are high-risk so we want to operate at the lowest risk at this time and the lowest risk for rust base on the CDC guideline is virtual also based on when our safety department support as well you may continue our action plan for Jasper County School District I want to take a moment to talk about what you see on your screen at this time and then and I don't want to get lost in this but I think it's care much for everyone to understand that when you see the word meat if you have not been following legislation the South Carolina General Assembly authorized the State Department of Education to reimburse public schools from the coronavirus released fun and you could provide some unbudgeted instructional support beyond the number of that were in hours at work required by state law in regards to that what we are doing and what the law has indicated in what this week plan requires is that you bring our kids and face-to-face and we have an option week stands for learn evaluate analyze and prepare our plan is going to do all of those things we're going how to evaluate our student we're going to analyze the data and we're going to prepare them to learn it is important that we assess our students to gauge where they are so that we can meet them where they are and so the plans for leap day that the state department will support it does require students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade 5 additional instructional at the start of the school year high school year in Michigan is supposed to start August 17th then the week prior to be 5 days prior to the start of the school year for us that would be the week of August 4th that would be the time in issue that teachers would report regardless because they were originally report back on August 10th for all of our staff members who teach in Praise CD pre-kindergarten in order to be compensated for the additional five days staff members must come back a week early and they cannot be coming back the week early when the time of your being, so when you see there you will see the week of August 10th to the 14th that's when we need our students to come in for Diagnostic the week of August 3rd through the 7th that is when I need to get prepared and that is how they will be company based on again this piece from the general assembly the individuals in it and I need parents to understand I know I just said to you I will need our kids to operate safely virtually and is only can see sent well here were talking about days and not a better chair mr.
