The district is continuously making necessary improvements and progress! SCDE noted that Ridgeland Elementary has the highest increase in the percentage of students scoring meeting and/or exceeding on SCREADY ELA among all Priority Schools in the state!
SCDE stated “the Office of School Transformation has had the pleasure of working with the district and supporting three of their schools as Priority Schools.” A list of 2016-2017 accomplishments are as follows:
Jasper County Schools demonstrating an increase in the percentage of students meeting and/or exceeding the standard in ELA on the 2017 SC READY assessment:
7.7% increase- Ridgeland Elementary
4.5% increase- Hardeeville Elementary
3.6% increase- Hardeeville Ridgeland Middle
Jasper County Schools demonstrating an increase in the percentage of students meeting and/or exceeding the standard in Math on the 2017 SC READY assessment:
6.7% increase- Ridgeland Elementary
In the interim of school and district ratings, the SCDE is required to identify potentially underperforming districts and schools based on specific academic achieve data. The criteria for identification may be reviewed below. Jasper County School District was named to the potentially underperforming district list in November of 2016 as it met two or more of the criteria.
However, with hard work and partnership with the SCDE, Jasper County School District made improvements in these areas during the 2016-2017 school year and as of November 15, 2017, as stated by an SCDE representative.
