Scholars in Mr. Jiles first grade classroom at RES experienced hands-on learning with Place Value using Legos (STEM). As part of the JCSD First grade math RCD (Rigorous Curriculum Design) students identified the ones and tens place, wrote the expanded form equation, showed the concrete model using Legos and wrote he number words. 
Scholars also had hands on experience with the smart board in the classroom. Students were very engaged and enjoyed the math lesson. One scholar said, "Wow we are learning with Legos.
