Jasper County School District Superintendent Dr. Vashti K. Washington, along with other superintendents from around the state met at the Governoru2019s mansion on Jan. 9 to hear Governor Haleyu2019s education reform initiative. During the presentation, Governor Haley noted that Jasper County is one of the counties in the initiative that have been identified to receive additional support for reading initiatives, mentioning the districtu2019s new initiative recently put into place. In addition to the reading initiative the Governor has included in the initiative additional funding for early childhood education. Governor Haley, upon speaking with the Superintendent, also explained that education was not a Democratic or Republican issue, but rather it is the communityu2019s responsibility to educate its children and it was important to put differences aside and work for the children.
