Safety Update: No Credible Threat to Ridgeland Campus

We want to reassure you that there is no credible threat of a school shooting to our Ridgeland campus. School operations will continue as normal. School Resource Officers are on campus and are actively on duty as everyday.

We are aware of a rumor circulating regarding an alleged threat of a shooting on our Ridgeland campus, and we want to address this matter directly and transparently.

The situation began when one student told another student about a dream in which a third student was going to “shoot up” the school. As the story was shared from person to person, the detail that this statement was about a dream was lost, which contributed to the spread of concern.

As soon as we became aware of the conversation, school and district administrators immediately followed up with the students involved and conducted a thorough review.

After careful investigation, we have determined that there is no credible threat to our campus.

Please know that we take all reports involving the safety of our students and staff extremely seriously, every time. Even when information originates from a rumor or misunderstanding, it is promptly addressed and thoroughly investigated. The safety and security of our students and employees remain our highest priority, and we will continue to remain vigilant in protecting our school community.

We also want to remind families that we have multiple layers of security in place across our campuses. These include the daily use of metal detectors and bag scanners, the presence of School Resource Officers, and established safety protocols designed to mitigate the possibility of a weapon entering our schools. These measures are part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment.

We encourage staff and families to remind students to report any concerns directly to school administrators so they can be addressed quickly and appropriately.

Thank you for your continued commitment and support.
