Notice of Destruction of Special Education Records


Attention Parents/Guardians, Former Students, Eligible (Adult) Students:


Special Education records which have been collected by the School District of Jasper County (JCSD) related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of Special Education in the district must be maintained until no longer needed to provide educational services to the student or for necessary school district purposes such as auditing or monitoring.


Notice is hereby given that the School District of Jasper County intends to destroy the special education records of students born before 1995 who have exited from all special education programs before 2015. Although these records are no longer useful to our district, they may be useful to the parent/guardian or former student in applying for Social Security benefits, rehabilitation services, college entrance, etc.


If no student, parent or guardian responds to this letter, the public notice in the newspaper, or the public notice on the Jasper County School District website by March 30, 2020, the school district will assume consent to destroy special education records specific to this student. The eligible (adult) student or parent/guardian of a disabled student may request the records in writing or in person at the following address:
