Corey Burgess

Mr. Corey A. Burgess is a native of Alcolu, South Carolina and currently resides in Sumter, South Carolina. He is a graduate of Manning High School (SC), Concord University (WV, Bachelor’s of Science…Secondary Education), and the University of South Carolina (Columbia, Master’s of Education…Education Leadership).
 
Having been in the education profession for more than twenty-five years, Burgess has served in the roles of a secondary classroom teacher (science), athletic director, assistant principal, principal, most recently serving as principal of Scott’s Branch Middle/High School in Clarendon One School District (Summerton, SC) and currently serves as the Director of Secondary Programs and Career & Technical Education here in Jasper County School District (South Carolina). His philosophy of education is simple: All children deserve the right to receive an education that will prepare them to be successful in this ever-changing world.
 
Mr. Burgess is married with three daughters and twin grandsons. He is a member of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church (Sumter, SC), a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, and a member of several educational associations. Mr. Burgess simply describes himself as a God fearing country boy who enjoys family, living, laughing, hunting and fishing and will ALWAYS do his best to leave a place better than he found it.
