Today, Wednesday, March 18, 2020, was even more productive. We truly appreciate the families who are supporting the process, remaining flexible, and understanding. Our Food Service and Transportation TEAMS served 653 students today. Again, we anticipate this number increasing daily with the help of each of you, as well as, our Transportation and Food Service TEAMS! Our TEAMS will deliver meals Monday thru Friday, weekly.

UPDATE Tuesday, March 17, 2020 3:30PM
Grab-n-Go Meal Initiative (Jasper County School District)
Today, Tuesday, March 17, 2020, we saw more students; 507 to be exact. Great day! So glad to see all of our babies! More students...more meals distributed...SUCCESS!
A friendly reminder, our district’s Food Service and Transportation TEAMs are working diligently to provide all of our students with meals, during this time. We appreciate your understanding, as we distribute Grab-n-Go ‘meals on wheels’ in an effort to meet you in close proximity of your homes, as much as possible, because we understand how large our district is geographically. More specifically, it is important to understand that the times provided for each approved site are approximations. The more students we serve at any stop; the more time it will take. This means that our buses may be arriving to other locations later than intended.
Nonetheless, we will arrive to each approved location everyday, and ensure our students are fed. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Stay safe, read, complete your learning packets and online assignments, and know that we, in Jasper County School District, LOVE each of you!
UPDATE: Providing more specific timing for 'Grab-n-Go' food delivery stops! March 16, 2020 5:30pm

March 15, 2020 Update (Schools will be closed March 16-31st)

As COVID-19 (coronavirus) cases increase across the state, Governor Henry McMaster has ordered all K-12 schools to close for two weeks, effective Monday, March 16, 2020.

Jasper County Schools will be closed for students for at least two weeks beginning Monday, March 16-31, 2020. This includes the Boys and Girls Programs in Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

Given the Governor's decision, the JCSD Board of Trustees will conduct all board meetings electronically, for the sole purpose of conducting business, as needed. The meetings will be live streamed.

The COVID-19 Coronavirus crisis is an unprecedented community health concern. JCSD executive leaders, have developed plans to address these exceptional circumstances. These plans include feeding students and continuing learning using a virtual platform.

As decisions are made, information will be shared through our normal communication channels. We will continue to provide updates for questions families and staff will likely have. Many responses will depend on decisions at the state level. You can visit and follow JCSD on social media at for all School District updates.

We understand that families and staff will be affected by this decision and we appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work to navigate the closure of schools.

Parents and Families:

  1. Spring Break: More information to come.
  2. Virtual Learning: In the coming days, parents will receive information about opportunities for students to continue learning via virtual (online) access. Families without internet service can get free internet service for two months at
  3. School lunch: Beginning Monday, March 16, 2020  a “grab and go” school lunch and snack will be available for students. Also our transportation department will be delivering lunches, more information will be forthcoming about this effort.
  4. In addition, field trip cancellations, extra-curricular activity cancellations, and enhanced cleaning procedures from previous announcements remain in effect.
  5. Further, any outside rentals and or events that require use of JCSD School Facilities by any individual or agency is canceled until further notice.

Tomorrow, Monday, March 16, 2020, is a staff workday. We will use the time to prepare for school closure. Schools will be closed to students and visitors. Your building level leader and/or department leader will provide additional information tomorrow.

March 13, 2020 5:00pm UPDATE

Jasper County Public Schools continues to monitor the COVID-19, coronavirus, situation in close consultation with local, state, and federal health authorities and other officials.

The South Carolina Department of Education is recommending that school districts in the state of South Carolina continue normal operations at this time.

What we are doing:

  1. We have disinfected and sanitized all schools and school buses.

  2. We have adapted our daily cleaning procedures to focus on frequent sanitization of frequently touched surfaces including door handles, desks, and keyboards.

  3. We have banned all out-of-state field trip travel by airplane and bus.

  4. Student field trips and activities with large groups and/or over 250 people are being canceled until further notice.

  5. We have consulted with the S.C High School League regarding Spring athletic events. We will notify schools of any cancellations and post updates to the district’s website, effective Monday, March 16, 2020, approximately around 1:00 p.m., following the S.C. High School League Meeting.

  6. We have instituted re-entry procedures for families who traveled to high-risk areas. (If your family traveled to a high-risk area, please do not come to a school. See further instructions below).

  7. We continue to review in-state field trips and events and will make decisions on a case-by-case basis in consultation with health authorities.

  8. We have asked any employee who has traveled to a high-risk area or who has had close contact with another person who has been in a high-risk area to self-isolate for two weeks, and we are reviewing leave procedures for possible accommodations for employees.

  9. We are preparing for the potential of a large scale closure and conversion to online learning if health officials advise or direct public schools to close.

What you should do:

  1. If your child is exhibiting any signs of illness (fever, cough, or shortness of breath), keep your child home from school and call your health care provider. If your health care provider directs you to isolate your child for an extended period of time, contact your school to develop a home education plan.
  1. If you have traveled to any of the following countries, do not come to a school facility. Please call your child’s school by phone to receive instructions regarding access to a home education plan.
      • China
      • Iran
      • South Korea
      • Europe

  1. Families returning from cruises are advised to monitor their health and limit interactions with others for 14 days after returning to the United States. If you become symptomatic, immediately self-isolate and contact your county health department or health care provider.

  2. If your child is healthy and has not been to a high-risk area, you may plan to come to school as normal on Monday.

  3. If you are not comfortable sending your child to school during this COVID-19 event, you may choose to keep your child home. Normal excused absence policies will be followed and there will be no adverse academic consequences as a result of the absence. Please contact your school as you would for any other absence.

  4. Continue to monitor this webpage for further updates.
