Safe and Drug Free Schools
South Carolina Department of Education Safe and Drug Free Schools & Communities Act of 1994 Title IV of Improving America's School Act
Purpose
To support programs to meet the seventh national education goal by preventing violence in and around schools and by strengthening programs that prevent the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs, involve parents, and are coordinated with related Federal, State, and Community efforts and resources, through the provision of Federal assistance" (Sec. 4003. Purpose)
In order to be eligible to receive funds under SDFSCA for any fiscal year, the local school district shall submit, at such time as the State educational agency requires, an application to the State agency for approval. Such an application shall be amended, as necessary, to reflect changes in the local educational agency's program (sec. 4115. Local Applications)
