The focus of this meeting was to build stronger public engagement and school-community partnerships to meet the needs of JCSD students.
Marva Tigner, Chief of Academics and Federal Programs, presented important facts related to the needs of the children in the district.
Tigner emphasized that “we must prepare our students for their future, not our past”; she shared valuable facts related to educational requirements for jobs, national dropout rate, summer reading learning loss, and student classroom performance. She also encouraged organizations to become partners by participating in services such as, but not limited to, mentoring, tutoring, enrichment activities and visual and performing arts activities.
Meeting participants were encouraged to introduce their organization, ask questions, and share suggestions about maintaining engagement and partnerships.
Dr. James Simmons from All Children Pediatrics shared information on his upcoming partnership with JCSD
